Aashad ka Ek Din – In Konkan Railway Lane Mangalore – Goa
I am updating my blog after a very long time. I am very happy today, because this time I got some interesting information to share with you all. For the first time I took a long leave from my work (LTA) & I travelled in Konkan Railway lane Mangalore-Goa. It gives me a great feeling & I would like to write my experience in different parts. In the first part I am writing my experience of the journey.
My friend Malik (Trekking & Theater enthusiast) invited me couple of times to join him for trekking. All the time I was not able to make it due to my official reasons. This time I requested Malik to organize a trekking expedition. He had experience of exploring many places like M.M.Hills, B.R.Hills & Western Ghats with his friends. When I asked him about trekking, he came up with different plans. Finally we decided to visit Goa through Konkan Railway lane. Murali & Manju are two friends of Malik also joined with me in this expedition.
Some of our friends told me that, journey from Mangalore – Goa through Railway lane was a thrilling experience. We left Mysore on 15th of July 2008 by bus to Mangalore & decided to catch the train at 6.50am in Mangalore to go Madgav(Goa). Everything went out well as planned. We spent that night in Mangalore railway station.
Train left the station at 6.50am. It was a rainy day & till the end of our journey it was continuously raining. It was Aashada season. Nature was wet & full of Green. We had coffee & Doasa for breakfast in the train. Food was really good, & only licensed caters are allowed to sell the food inside the train. Tea, Coffee, Milk, Snaks like Biscuts, & Chips are also available. Consuming liquor is not allowed in the train & smoking inside the train is also prohibited.
Since It was a shuttle passenger train, it stopped for every 10-15 minutes. Below I have also given the list of places & reaching time, which we came across in the journey, for those who want to plan their journey from Mangalore to Goa.
If you have not traveled in this train, I request all of you to go & explore the beauty of the nature. I must thank Konkan Railway Authority, for making this journey possible. It is really a difficult task to dig tunnels in the big mountain ranges. II was very scared & thrilled as the train entered every tunnel, really it was a very good experience. You’ll find at least 17 tunnels, in the journey. You can see back water near Murudeshwar, Gokarna & Karwar. I have posted some of those beautiful photos & videos of the journey.
We saw Old farm houses, Mangalore tile factories, salt making fields, back water, Temples crops like Coconut, Banana, Paddy fields, farmers on duty with their families, big mountain ranges & many more. Every where you can see water, wet land, Green & Rain. Now i realised that, Aashada was the best season to explore Karavali & Western Ghats.
